I founds this useful for Chem, Its really good as a review or an intro to both normal chem and organic chem also (i'm guessing as I havn't gotten to that part of the website) its from oxford university and has good pictures and animations is you download the free plugins...

actually they say its an award winning pre-uni chem course

Hi guys... I'll just add something as well, please visit the following website for practice in science topic in Physics/Chem/Bio etc... the tests have explained solutions:

http://www.testprepreview.com/mcat_practice.htm

The topics covered here are; Biochemistry, Circulation, Electricity, Atomic Physics, Elements, Energy, Gases, Gastrointestinal, General Sciences, Grossanatomy, Integumentary, Lymphatic System, Microbiology, Motion Analysis, Nervous System, Neuroanatomy, Nuclear Physics, Nutrition, Optics, Organic Chemistry, Physiology, Pressure Chemistry, Reactions, Reproduction, Respiration, Urinary System & Waves. It also has stuff on Section I.

Also these are HSC level notes on Physics:

Thanks to everone who posted the websites they are great. The physics ones are really good if you need either refreshing or for physics students who need to summarise.

I have subscribed to an on-line learning package for chem at college level it is also good for non chem background members, there is a tour of the site available, Rapidlearning ..

This is a good site for free and has good explanations

Hart et al.'s Organic Chemistry textbook has been praised by certain people on this forum (I have not started my organic chem study so I cannot say yet) so some people who have the book (or haven't) might find the chapter summaries useful.

They're situated at http://college.hmco.com/chemistry/organi....uctor_home.html. Navigate to the chapter you want to explore, click "Prepare For Class" then open "Chapter x Overview".

Not a bad site overall for organic chem.

http://www.acdlabs.com/download/
Free version of chemsketch is great (if you've got time) to muck around making your own molecules.

http://www.5spice.com/download.htm
5Spice is alot of fun for learning about circuits. Again, takes a bit of getting used to, but it really straightened the topic out for me (for the first time ever - been bluffing my way through this since HSC).

Hey,

Don't think that this has been posted yet, but here's a site with textbooks on it, mainly biology and biochem based. There are quite a few that are indepth but a few good general biology ones.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?db=Books&itool=toolbar

Also, major source of journal articles, if that floats your boat!

For anyone confused with Equilibrium constant and changing conditions(I was so confused with the pressure part till now), here's a pretty good page which explains it all quite well.

Physics
For those that haven't done physics before I would recommend this site
http://www.glenbrook.k12.il.us/gbssci/Phys/Class/BBoard.html

Also the following textbook is really good as well as it presents the material in a conceptual way
Conceptual Physics, Paul G. Hewitt

Chemistry
I loved this site as it was simple but explained things in a really good way
http://www.chemguide.co.uk/index.html#top

I also used this site a bit for organic chemistry
http://www.mhhe.com/physsci/chemistry/carey5e/

I also really liked organic chemistry for dummies book as well

Goodluck with your studying

This might also be useful, I like the Fluids section:

and from there you can go to the other topics in Bio and Chem etc.

Hey guys,

I thought I'd mention Scitable from Nature. This is a new resource that mainly focuses on genetics and molecular biology to an undergrad university level. I guess it would be useful for section 3 of the GAMSAT as well as for those of you about to embark on a medical degree without the benefit of an undergrad biology related degree. Good luck with the study people! ;D

hey everyone, just discovered a guy on youtube. he goes through mainly physical chem, but his 'lectures' are really easy to follow, especially if you are like me ( i need to hear something/ have it explained)

i thought it would be good,e specially for non science (it can be quite basic). im science background but i have found him still good to watch.

this is a link to his first on acids and bases

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzXeb_jm9sQ&NR=1

his 'name' is bannanaiscool.

cheers guadalupeta! it sure does help to consolidate what i have read by hearing and watching someone explain these concepts...(do you ever find yourself reading over and over the same passage of text?) and 16 videos on organic chem! i'm sure that will come in handy.

again, many thanks

I know as soon as I asked for an app for GAMSAT/MCAT I would come across one. Don't know why the hell it took me so freaking long to find it.

HandyMed publish a number of flashcard series for Windows Mobile. I haven't tried them yet, but this is the website that they are downloadable from http://handheld.softpedia.com/developer/HandyMed-5175.html

I just recently discovered this great website that's good for memorizing factors for SIII. This particular link goes to a page on learning about stuff thats linked to Chapter 19 (viruses etc) of the 7th ed of 'Biology' textbook (I think its 7th ed!) but it gives you a taste of what the site's like - you can play games, do flashcards etc and learn your bio/chem theory:

http://quizlet.com/232086/biology-chapter-19-flash-cards/

You can sign up and make your own flashcards and stuff or you can search Quizlet and find ones that others have made and you can play.
Hope you guys find it useful :)

I've been using this site (http://www.wisc-online.com/) for brief revision/moving things around type of things. I can be a fairly hands-on learner and so this really works for me - it's not too technical but presents the information in a series of short slides with a couple of matching type things at then end. There are heaps of topics and there was a organic chemistry angle one that did a lot of the flipping and finally made it make sense to me. You have to sign up, and although you can purchase them to download, it's just as easy to be online and do it for free.
