Apologies for my lack of posts on my blog lately. For some reason the post function at the work computers doesn't work (which is when I actually have time to write) and the rest of them time I'm studying. I've finally put a new post up, and hopefully after my exams in 3 weeks there'll be a bit more there!

Thanks for your continued interest! (my hit counter keeps going on even thought there isn't much!)

The author of this previously advertised blog has started writing more frequently now she's back at work following the birth of her baby. The last couple of posts have been thought-provoking as usual. Enjoy :)

An extremely interesting blog:

http://rumorsweretrue.wordpress.com/

The guy is an american citizen studying med in the caribbean, who is now trying to transfer back to america. Make sure you read his 'about' section, so you can find out why he had to go to the caribbean (well, of course it's related to his low grades!).

Really interesting! Especially for those of us without stellar grades at uni....

I have been reading these three blogs lately, all authored by plastic surgeons. I'm finding them quite informative, and lots of the content contrasts with the flippant attitude that a lot of people take to having cosmetic procedures these days. I forwarded their addresses on to one of my girlfriends who is on the verge of getting her boobs done. I was a bit alarmed at a few of the things that I read that were very obviously important, but I knew she would probably have never considered or maybe even found out about unless she was the one to ask...
Great entertainment value as well.

New comics up at the underweardrawer! I am such a nerdburger to be exited by this! But I am! Woo! Where's my TI-84?!

http://theunderweardrawer.blogspot.com/2....tmonkey-in.html - First instalment of the "The 12 Medical Specialty Stereotypes." (This is by the same person who did the now famous "12 types of med students" comic).

http://theunderweardrawer.blogspot.com/2....e-hi-there.html - "The medical hierarchy: a visual guide"

Edit: The whole lot of them are up on one page, HERE

Medicine is a really small community, particularly in Australia. People talk, I guess, and as such, it's difficult to blog freely.

No, being a doctor does not automatically mean you have enemies, but b[image] hing about one's patients, bosses, and colleagues does generate some unhappiness.

And if your identity slips out... then you are dead meat.

Lessons: 1. Never assume that you are anonymous. 2. Don't write something inflammatory if you can't take the heat.

Agreed.

And thus I made the voluntary decision on my blogs that I'm not anonymous at all.

It's not a doctor's blog, but a nursing blog - but nonetheless, Adventures in Disaster has written a really good recent post to mark the new year.

adventures in disaster is a really good comment. I just read it and could really relate to it. I think that most ICU nurses feel exactly the same.

Include links to ther Medscape student blogs, I read the ben feruguson blog quite abit for life as PhD and Med student- http://nosugrefneb.com/weblog/
